We don’t have to tell you faux fur is no longer just a trend. A fluffy coat has become something of a winter staple: It’s practical (read: warm) yet fun and statement-making, too. It’s the best of both worlds. Even just a touch of fluff in the form of a colorful scarf, a coat collar, or a luxuriously soft stole can make gloomy winter mornings feel a little more exciting. What’s more, they can transform last year’s old coats in a snap: With a striped or jewel-toned scarf on top, your puffer or peacoat will feel like new—without the guilt of a massive credit card balance.
Give your denim jacket a much needed boost by wrapping an ivory faux-fur scarf around the collar, for instance, or add some personality to a leather trench by layering on a candy-colored collar. In the mood for a bit of Old Hollywood glamour? Just drape Marc Jacobs’s navy stole over your bare shoulders for a snowy evening out. This is a trend that happily works for any occasion; shop all 10 of our favorite picks below.
